About Penumbra

Penumbra takes its name from the light on the edges of an eclipse, and it lives in that space between shadow and glow. The kingdom is almost entirely underground, a web of caves that shine faintly under moonlight. Four colored gates point the way out: the White to Snowfall, the Green to Ophir, the Red over the Valley of Elah, the Blue to the Endless Sea. At its dark heart lies the Umbra, a lightless sanctuary that holds the Water of Life, where newborns are blessed and the sick come seeking miracles.

King Kage was murdered in the Umbra during the War of Light and Dark, in front of his wife Azul and their young daughter Zillah. Azul, the blind priestess, now guides her people with a sight that needs no eyes. Zillah has inherited a piece of it and a hunger for vengeance. Penumbra's warriors train alone and fight in ambush, and Offede, the Guardian, leads them. Something in the caves is killing quietly, and no one can see who.
