About Champaign

Champaign is open country on the western coast of Adamah, tall grass and berry bushes stretching between Socho to the north and Morass to the south. The Sioux, its dominant tribe, follow the bison across the plains and return each year to the Black Hills, sacred ground of black rock and a pristine pond beneath Crazy Horse Peak. Their rivals, the Raz, track the coyotes through the Escalante Desert. The Wenatchi, five hundred strong and slow to fight, keep to the Brushlands. Nine lakes and the Flood Stones hold stories no one can fully explain.

Chief Tatanka leads three hundred Sioux warriors with the wisdom of a man who has buried a wife and child. He has adopted his sister's son Bull and a girl named Walk, and he marks his warriors' skin for every victory. The Sioux thank Wakan Tanka, the Great Mystery, for the bison, and shun those who forget to be grateful. When Socho reaches south for an alliance, Champaign must decide whether outsiders are friends or the next threat.
